I was reading around the other day and I chanced upon this interesting piece of information – wedding shoe mistakes most brides make! WHOA! Such a thing exists?
Well, I was intrigued by what I learnt and decided to share with you guys. You’re welcome. π

Dear to-be-bride, the first thing you should think of when shopping for your wedding shoes is your COMFORT. Choose shoes that you will be very comfortable in. Don’t forget that your wedding day is supposed to be a fun and happy day with lots of dancing, walking, standing etc.Β If you are not a high heel person, please do not force yourself. You can opt for lower heels, ballet shoes, flats, sneakers, hell, whatever makes you feel comfortable. But if your dream is to wear heels, choose a height you are used to wearing. No need to impress anyone. You don’t want to the bride that hobbles or trips on her way down the aisle.Β Happy feet = happy bride they say.

- Not breaking your shoes in before the big day
Once you buy the perfect pair for your wedding, break them in (wear them enough so it feels comfortable). Walk in the shoes regularly to ensure that they will be comfortable to wear on the wedding day. Yeah you don’t want to damage them before the wedding….but it wouldn’t hurt to wear them around the house for short periods of time. This will save you from getting blisters or even wobbling in the shoes on the best day of your life.

- Getting shoes you can/will never wear again
When shopping for wedding shoes, choose one that can be worn again. It will be very bad to get that glamorous shoe, wear it for the wedding and watch it waste away because you cannot wear it for any other occasion. We mostly think wedding shoes must be white, satin, sparkly – lovely though but not obligatory! (who even made such a rule?) Honey, tell me where else you can wear such shoes to? Certainly not to work. Feel free to go in for colorful shoes if you are not feeling ”traditional”; such shoes get bonus points for being re-wearable after the wedding. Gold, Nude, Red, Blue, Ivory….you can try these colors and be the glamorous goddess you’ve always dreamed to be!

- Not budgeting for wedding shoes
Everything that will be used for your wedding must be budgeted for. It is rather unfortunate that somethings are overlooked – wedding shoes is one of them. Know this, wedding shoes are downright expensive and can be a big blow to buy without considering how its cost can affect your wedding budget.
- Forgetting to get a spare pair of shoes
It is very necessary to get a spare pair of shoes for your wedding day – back up! Keep in mind that anything can happen that day; heels can break, shoes could rip, your feet might hurt, or you may want a lower heel for dancing. Throw a bridal sandal or flip flop into your bridal bag in case the needs arises for a shoe change.

Note that picking the right shoes for your wedding is an essential part ofΒ bridal preparation. Although your shoes should showcase your style, don’t forget you must also be comfortable in order to enjoy the best day of your life!
